Local Artist - Ana Stites 

Hi my name is Ana Stites and I am a part time artist currently living in Ngaruawahia, New Zealand with my husband, 2 kids and furry fat cat.  I was born in Auckland and have been lucky enough to have moved around with my family when I was growing up, and as a result, have lived all over New Zealand and seen how beautiful our country really is.

 

As an artist, I am just beginning to branch out and share my work with the world. I hope to inspire people to slow down and enjoy the beauty that surrounds them no matter what their situation happens to be. There are always going to be things that we are unsure of and maybe even find a bit frightening, but we can only grow if we keep moving forward and have a little faith in ourselves.

 

My work is mainly created in the middle of the night when everything is peaceful (kids are in bed) and my energy is more grounded and free flowing. I have created some paintings, all of which are acrylic on canvas, board or paper. I also sketch portraits from photos that people send me.

 

I hope you enjoy browsing through my art as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Sketches



The two little darlings.  These are my children.

Here is a sketch I did for my neighbour.  His sister has always been the baby sitter for the whole whanau.

When she turned 21, he wanted to give her something nice and personal so he gave me a bunch of photos

of the kids and commissioned me to do this for her.

 


Martial Arts

This one was for my husband.  He is devoted to martial arts

and I found a tiny picture of this guy in a book one day.

 

Protection

We are all vulnerable to the harshness of our world and people in it at times.

This painting shows your world within the world as it is being protected

and closely guarded by the Mania figure.


Acceptance

This painting is all about realising who you are and acceptingit.  When I painted this one,

I was having a tough time trying to accept who I am.  It represents me accepting the universal energy

and letting it flow through me so that I can fulfil my destiny and be content to enjoy the journey of life.

 

Gateway to Mystery

This represents a journey through life.  Even when you don't know what's going to happen next, you have

got to keep moving forward and trust that things will work out fine.  You will always gravitate towards

your minds most dominant thought. SO stay positive!
